How long is a Botox® treatment and how long will it last?
Botox is a quick treatment with immediate results. Treatments usually take 10-15 minutes and the results last 3 to 6 months. Please note that will take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks for the product to completely penetrate the muscle and see the results.
What does Botox® feel like and what should I expect after treatment?
No anesthesia is required, however we may numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Some bruising may occur at the site of injection.
What is the right age to start Botox® ?
Some clients like to start as young as 25 for preventative measures however most clients are in their 30's and older. Our collagen starts to break down after the age of 35. Most people notice that their lines at this age start to become more defined and may appear even when they are not showing expression. Botox prevents these lines from causing permanent damage in the skin. If you are noticing forhead lines, frown lines and crows feet, it's time to come in to see if Botox is right for you.
What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Unlike Botox, it provides a filler to the skin as opposed to paralysis of the facial muscles. With Juvederm, fine lines and wrinkles can be erased. It can improve the corners of your mouth ( marionette lines ) and can restore a more youthful appearance to the lip area, including nasolabial folds and parts of the upper face.
What Areas Does Juvederm Treat?
Juvederm treats facial lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to plump up lips. This provides a more youthful look, and can make a patient feel years younger. Laugh lines, creases, and other types of wrinkles can all be erased or minimized with Juvederm.
Why is Juvederm Unique?
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Unlike Botox, it does not cause paralysis of the facial muscles. Instead, it is used to restore some of the elasticity and fullness that disappears from the face with age. This helps improve the look of the skin, and makes fine lines and wrinkles a thing of the past. Juvederm also lasts much longer than collagen, so patients can save money and still have the look they want.
Who Benefits from Juvederm Treatment?
Everyone can benefit from Juvederm. As people age, they begin to lose some of the elasticity from their skin. That contributes to wrinkles, lines, and lips that are not as full and youthful looking as they used to be. By using Juvederm, our patients receive the benefit of younger looking skin, and the boost of self-esteem that comes with it. Men and women over the age of 18 can use Juvederm, but not everyone is a good candidate. A consultation can help you decide if Juvederm is right for you.
What Is Belkyra?
Belkyra is composed of deoxycholate, a synthetic non-animal chemical that can disrupt the cell membrane of fat cells and are then naturally processed by the body. Deoxycholate is found naturally in our own bodies to break down the fat we eat. The product we inject is indistinguishable from what is found circulating in our own bodies which is why Belkyra is extremely safe.
The Belkyra procedure is very simple and fast. Dr. Palencar will assess and identify the area to be specifically targeted, then a thin sheet with coloured dots are placed on the skin. The sheet is then moistened with water and these small dots are transferred to the skin temporarily for the procedure. She will then inject Belkyra in a very systematic and precise fashion into the fat pocket. The treatment is then complete and you can go back to your normal activities immediately.
The injections work by dissolving the protein membranes around fat cells, allowing them to collapse and be processed naturally by the body. All that you will feel are the injections themselves, which are applied with a very small needle to the area. Overall, the treatment takes 30-45 minutes. Follow-up treatments are booked right away so we can monitor progress and assess the need for another session. Usually 2 to 3 treatments are required depending on the amount of fat in the area.
What To Expect After A Belykyra Procedure?
Some patients will experience some swelling, bruising and soreness after the procedure, which varies in amount from person to person. Also, small areas of bruising can be common due to the injection process. You can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure. Generally we see results within a few weeks for some patients and longer than a month for others. Visit us for a complimentary consultation to determine if Belkyra is right for you!

How LATISSE® Works
The active ingredient in LATISSE® is bimatoprost, a synthetic prostaglandin (a fatty acid that performs hormone-like actions) that is used to treat glaucoma. When patients were treated for glaucoma with bimatoprost, physicians found that a side effect was the growth of lusher and darker eyelashes—and thus LATISSE® was born.
Bimatroprost works by prolonging the active growing cycle of a hair follicle (known as the anagen phase), and increasing the number of hairs growing. While bimatoprost treats glaucoma in the form of eye drops, LATISSE® is applied directly along the lashline, and is not meant to be used in the eyes.
How to Use LATISSE®
It's important to remember that LATISSE® is not a cosmetic, but a pharmaceutical, and it must be used in the specified manner to avoid complications and minimize the possibility of side effects.
Use LATISSE® once a day at bedtime.
Remove contact lenses, if worn.
Gently cleanse the eye area.
Dry skin completely.
Using the included applicator, apply LATISSE® to the base of the upper eyelashes only.
Gently blot the eyelid with a tissue to remove excess solution.
Once the solution has been absorbed, and the skin is completely dry, contact lenses may be reinserted, if necessary.
You may notice a difference in the appearance of your eyelashes after just a few weeks, but the full results will be achieved after 16 weeks of consistent use. Because every hair on our bodies eventually sheds, you'll need to continue using LATISSE® as directed to maintain results.
When you come in for your free consultation, we'll explain the instructions to you in detail, and answer any questions you have about using LATISSE®.
